May is the time for people to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Many organizations are planning walk fundraisers during the month.
The American Heart Association will have its Annual Heart Walk and 5K Run in a few weeks. Registration will begin at 8:00 am with the 5K Run starting at 8:30 am. A short ceremony will begin at 9:00 am, and the one- and three-mile walks will commence at 9:15 am. Walkers who raise at least $100 will get T-Shirts that have the Heart Walk Logo Design on the front. The Heart Walk/Run will be Saturday, May 18, starting at the Huntington Center, 500 Jefferson Avenue.
Another walk beginning at the Huntington Center will be Walk MS: Toledo 2019 which will take place the next day. Three-mile and one-mile routes will be available. Again, walkers who raise a minimum of $100 will get T-shirts, but these will tout the Walk MS graphic design. Registration will begin at 8:00 am and the walk will begin at 9:30 am on Sunday, May 19.
The Run for the Bull 5k Run will also have a fitness walk component. This event will be on Saturday, May 18 at Swan Creek Metropark, 4695 Airport Highway beginning at the Mary Jane Gill Shelter. Petless runners and walkers will begin at 9:00 am and they will immediately be followed by dogs and owners. Proceeds from this run will go to the Lucas County Pit Crew.
