The Toledo area is rearing to go for the Fourth.
Events start a week before Independence Day with the Shoreland Firefighters Thunder Over the Point. The Shoreland Firefighters Association will be hosting an evening of fireworks over the Summit St. Bridge.
A week later, Fostoria will be holding its fireworks at dusk. They will also host a YMCA vintage baseball game starting at 6:00 pm and a talent contest starting at 8:00 pm. Friends and relatives of the winner will surely want to take pictures for later poster printing.
The night before, Perrysburg, Sylvania, Findlay and Bowling Green will be holding their celebrations. Perrysburg will host a picnic from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at Fort Meigs with fireworks at 10 pm, and Sylvania’s fun begins at 7:00 pm at Centennial Terrance with fireworks at 10. Findley’s celebration will be at the Hancock County Fairgrounds starting at 4:00 and their hour-long fireworks program will begin at 10:00 pm. Bowling Green will host a patriotic concert with fireworks at dusk at BGSU Intramural Field.
Toledo’s big Red, White and Kaboom celebration will be held in downtown Toledo.
The Shoreland Firefighters Thunder of the Point will be this Saturday, June 23 starting at dusk. Fostoria’s celebration will be Saturday, June 30 in Meadowland Park, at 1225 S. Union Street, Fostoria.
Red, White and Kaboon will take place starting at 4:00 pm in downtown Toledo Promenade Park located at Summit and Water Streets. The fireworks will begin at 10:00 pm.
