Momentum will be a three-day music, arts, glass, and culture festival coming to downtown Toledo in mid-September. The event will also have virtual components.
This year the event organizers are limiting their artists to 20 artists currently residing in the Toledo area and 20 who have some other kind of ties to our city.
Self-guided Discoverable Activities will take patrons on explorations in uptown and downtown Toledo. Along with viewing existing art infrastructure the event will also include activities and new projects.
The virtual aspect will be an online Artist Market with exhibitions by local artists showing and selling their original artwork. Artists usually enclose their Business Cards with mailed purchases. Other programming will include literary and performing artists.
Both virtual and in-person Momentum Kick off activities will begin on September 17th.
Two stages will feature local, regional and national talent. Some music artists and street performers will be entertaining the festival goers as they roam around the venue.
Last year the event drew over 22,000 people and included 61 organizations. Fifty-five performing and sixty visual artists received $165,793 in support from the Toledo community. The Toledo venues had five public and interactive artwork displays.
Although the Momentum Festival 2020 in-person venue will be September 17th through September 19th in Promenade Park, 250 Water Street and at Imagination Station spaces, some elements of the festival will extend into mid-October.
