Stow to send valentines to troops and first responders

Stow will be holding the second annual Operation Valentine’s Day.

Jeremy McIntire, Vice President of Stow City Council, a veteran of the Iraq War, and a Purple Herat Recipient, started this program last year. It collected over 12,000 Valentines for those overseas. He and his wife Claire are expanding the program this year to include healthcare workers and first responders.

The criteria for the Valentines are that the cards should not be any larger than 8.5 by 11 inches, and should be handmade and individually designed. The Valentines should not include candy or food and should have no glitter. Children who create cards should include only their first name. The messages on the cards should be positive as they will be screened. Those submitting cards can also include photographs and contact information. Envelopes are not needed for the Valentines.

The goal this year is to collect 20,000 Valentines. Reaching such goals can be aided if Print shops help with creating Flyers and Banners to promote such projects throughout a city and surrounding communities. Schools, businesses, and other organizations can contact the McIntires for more information about participating in this effort.

Valentines can be dropped off at Stow City Hall from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday through Monday, January 25. They can also be dropped off at the McIntire’s home on Baker Lane in Stow.
