The former Cornerstone Church on Fishcreek Road in Stow has been purchased by the city to convert it to a new senior center.
Banner printing can be used at such sites to make developments like this known throughout the community.
The property will be an upgrade to the current senior center, spanning over 8,000 square feet. It will be able to accommodate up to 533 people at a time, and be able to offer a wider variety of programs, as well as being a fun and active environment for seniors.
John Pribonic, mayor of Stow, supports the acquisition, as there are many shortcomings to the facility currently used for seniors. He said that although it was decided not to raise taxes for a comprehensive community recreation center, it remained a priority of the residents to improve the current senior center.
The building is on one level, with no steps, which will be convenient for seniors. There is a protective canopy at the main entrance, and a large welcome area and foyer. The sanctuary can seat 260 people.
The building also has smaller classrooms, a medium-sized room, two offices, and a kitchen. Outside, there is another building for storage and ample parking.
The city is working on plans to update the building, and is expecting a grand opening this summer.
