The City of Stow will begin its largest road improvement project this spring.
At a cost of $4.3m, the project will improve and repair many roadways in the city. Of the total cost, there is a carryover of $1.3m from a similar project for 2020, with an additional $3m for this year.
Residential roadways will be the focus on the project, as state grant funding typically covers main thoroughfares in the city. The selection of which residential roads will be repaired will be based on a rating system through the Paver 7 management software, a decision-making tool that looks at pavement distress, such as weathering, rutting, potholes, and cracks. Each roadway will have a pavement condition index that will rate the condition of the roadway. Print shops can be hired to create Flyers and other materials once such indices are developed so that residents can know when repairs will be done on their streets.
John Pribonic, mayor of Stow, said that this road improvement project will provide great benefits for the residents of the city. He added that the concentration of this project on residential roadways is part of the city’s efforts to offer a high level of service to its residents.
The road improvement project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
