The Ohio National Guard unit from Stow, which is led by Sargent Trista Warford, is currently working to feed those in need in the northeast part of the state.
Poster printing is often used to inform the community of such efforts and how they can benefit from them.
There are six members of the National Guard and three trucks working with the Alliance Community Pantry. This team delivers food ordered by the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. The Guard members now make deliveries in the morning and in the afternoon. The warehouse crew at the Foodbank recently unloaded 8,400lb of food to the Guard members and the trucks they use to deliver it.
Vice president of the Foodbank, Shelly Hinton, said that there are typically about 35 Guard members at the pantry per day. They make emergency Boxes and help with individual deliveries and deliveries to pantry sites. The emergency Boxes contain an assortment of packaged food that can be distributed to clients.
Hinton added that the plan is for them to continue their efforts until they are no longer needed, as it has been a challenge to keep up with the demand from many of the partners of the Foodbank. She said that the Guard has so far put together over 7,000 Boxes and served over 1,186 clients.
