Stow delays vote on residential project

Pulte Group, LLC, a home builder based in Medina, and Craig Baker, will have to wait a little longer to see if they can go ahead with a proposed development in Stow.

The Stow City Council voted to table a resolution that would have granted approval to a site plan and a conditional zoning certificate for the project. The residential development, which will be called Bakers Glen, comprises 68 single-family homes, and will be built on the property formerly owned by Leisure Time.

The city council first considered the matter on November 20 at its regular meeting. It gave the proposal a second reading on December 8, when it considered some amendment. The proposal should have received a final vote on December 11, when instead it was postponed. However, the postponement has more to do with the fact Councilor Jim Costello was not present than with the proposal, which is expected to pass.

The site plan shows the main entrance to the development will be opposite Commerce, with a second entrance 840 feet further south. The houses will be two-story structures, with three, four, or five bedrooms, and an average square footage of between 2,400 and 2,800 square feet. The total project would cover about 30 acres, with approximately 13 acres set aside as green space.

Stow officials might consider working with flyer printers on a mailer for residents, inviting their comments on the proposal.
