IGNITE Stow will once again be offering the Six District Educational Compact this spring to students in the Woodridge, Tallmadge, Stow-Munroe Falls, Kent, Hudson, and Cuyahoga Falls school districts.
This spring, in addition to its line-up of career and technology education courses, there will be several new offerings. One, supported by a grant from the Burton D. Morgan Foundation, will be an entrepreneurial program in the Woodridge district, while another will be in communications and the arts and offered in the Hudson and Cuyahoga Falls districts. The Woodridge school district will also be offering pharmacy technology and the Hudson district veterinary technology.
Executive director of the Six District Compact, Mary Jane Stanchina, said the courses are half day, with introductory courses in the morning, and upper level classes in the afternoon, with offerings on a nine-week rotation. Transportation is provided between a student’s high school and the school sponsoring the program.
Orientation for these courses will take place in January followed by student visits to the respective schools in February. Families are encouraged to join the visits and gather materials that may be created by Print shops in the local area.
Stanchina added that both the technology education and career courses offer academics college preparation, so that there is no problem with high school credit transfer.
