Safety classes for children to be held in Stow

The Stow Police Department will be sponsoring Stow Safety Town classes in June. Stow Youth Services works with the department to provide two teachers and volunteers.

This is a safety education program for children who will be starting kindergarten this fall. Children need to be residents of Stow and should be at least five years old on or before August 1. Volunteers are also being sought for this program, who need to be from grades 8 through 12.

Topics to be covered in this program include bike and pedestrian safety, safety belts, fire safety, safety on the bus and playgrounds, and personal safety. Such special classes are often promoted throughout a city with flyer printing.

Stow Youth Services works with the Police Department to provide two teachers and volunteers. These teachers are full-time teachers and certified in the Stow-Munroe Falls School District. There will also be specialists from the Stow Police and Fire Departments and other outside safety experts.

Registration for the classes is now open and closes on Friday, May 19. Classes will be held from Monday, June 12 through Friday, June 16 from 8:30 to 11:00 am and from noon to 2:30 pm, and from Monday, June 19 through Friday, June 23 at the same times. Parents may sign up their child for only one class.
