Restaurants and non-profits partner for meal delivery

The city of Stow is now offering a Monday Meals program, which avoids third-party delivery services and enables participating restaurants to keep all the revenues from the sale of meals.

Each Monday, two restaurants will be selected and will offer special items or meals from their standard menu for dine-in, take out, or delivery. For the items that are delivered, a volunteer from a non-profit in the area will deliver the meals. Any tips given along with the meal will go directly to the non-profit organization represented by the volunteer. Local Print shops often assist in spreading the word about such unique offerings throughout the community using Flyers and other printed material.

Dan Russo, co-owner of the Tavern of Stow, said that as far as the restaurant is concerned, they get a day’s relief from the commission on the delivery that typically goes to Door Dash or another delivery service. John Pribonic, mayor of Stow, was responsible for conceiving the idea at the end of last year. He was looking for a way to bring restaurants and organizations together during a year of losses, and this seemed to provide benefits for both parties involved.

Upcoming restaurant and organization partnerships will be The Café in Stow and Beef ‘O’ Brady’s on Monday, February 22 with Stow-Munroe Falls Speech and Debate and Stow-Munroe Falls Band delivering between 5:00 and 9:00 pm.
