The city of Stow will be holding a Fill’er Up Food Drive next month to support the Harvest for Hunger campaign.
This is the largest fundraising campaign for the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank, and is now in its 32nd year. Poster printing can be used throughout a community to promote such events and their fundraising efforts.
Major items needed include canned beef stew, boxed cereal, canned soup and tuna, canned vegetables, peanut butter, and hygiene items. Monetary donations will also be accepted. The goal of the campaign is to provide the equivalent of 4.54 million meals, which equates to 100,000 pounds of food and $1.12m. The local community directly benefits from the proceeds of the campaign, which are distributed throughout the network of the food bank to support close to 600 hot meal sites, food pantries, programs for senior citizen, and other hunger-relief programs.
Co-chairs of the campaign are CEO of Beaver Constructors Mark Sterling and vice president for community initiatives at Akron Children’s Hospital Bernett L. Williams. Williams said the campaign is always successful because of the support from businesses, individuals, and other members of the community. He said many people come together at this time to help feed people and fight hunger.
This will be a drive-through event to be held at the parking lot of Stow City Hall from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday, April 7.
