Due to uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and consequential quarantine, Mainstreet Piqua has recently confirmed that its yearly Taste of the Arts has been put on hold.
Lorna Swisher, the executive director of Mainstreet Piqua explained that because it was unknown when large gathering would no longer be restricted the decision was made to indefinitely postpone the event. She said rescheduling would take place when they received official word from state and health officials.
Mainstreet Piqua placed the following notice on Facebook:
“Someday soon, we’ll all be together again – laughing, dancing, eating, and playing. It’s not a big surprise, but we’re postponing the Taste of the Arts event this year.”
Showcasing local talent, Taste of the Arts was to have taken place this upcoming May 8, marking the 26th year of the event. The artistic demonstrations, food tents, live music and children’s activities, however, has been postponed until an unknown future date.
Banner printing services are used to announce opening of new businesses as well as upcoming community events to inform as well as build excitement.
Swisher admitted that the rescheduled event may not live up to the usual Taste of the Arts but Mainstreet Piqua is definitely planning on throwing an event to welcome the local community to the downtown area once more. However, for now, the group is waiting to learn when plans for that celebration can take place.
