Summer fun planned for Piqua parks

A couple of fun programs have recently been announced to take place at two of Piqua’s public parks; Parks & Recreation has proclaimed a return of its Summer Walking Club and its Movie in the Park series.

Piqua’s Summer Walking Club is a three-way partnership among City of Piqua Parks & Recreation Department and the YWCA Piqua and the Miami YMCA. This is a free program that is open to everyone regardless of age or fitness levels starting June 1 and running through August 31 each Monday 9 am to 10 am at French Park.

Promoting community connectivity while also increasing cardiovascular health and general physical wellness, walkers gather each week at a different spot along Piqua’s scenic bike path. Each week of the summer participants will be treated to new views and experiences while benefiting from regular activity and socialization.

Poster printing services are excellent for promoting community events.

Piqua residents and visitors are invited to Lock 9 Park once a month during the summer to enjoy the city’s Movie in the Park series. This reoccurring free family fun event includes free popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones and face painting with food and drink sellers also on hand.

The first movie of the 2026 movie series is Zootopia 2 on Sunday, June 7; Hoppers on July 12; and on August 9, the final film of the series will be The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Pre-movie activities start at 6 pm with the movie beginning at 7pm.
