At its Eaton location, Edison State Community College has decided to offer a Certified Practical Nursing program in an effort to address the nursing needs of the region, and applications are now being accepted.
Colleges frequently engage banner printing services to help identify areas of their campuses, as well as announce upcoming events.
The program offered by Edison state will qualify students to become licensed practical nurses (LPNs), providing evidence-based, safe, client-centered care to those in long-term care, rehabilitation, hospitals, and home health settings. LPNs operate under the supervision of registered nurses, dentists, optometrists, and podiatrists. Currently, their median salary in Ohio is, according to the state’s Top Jobs list, $50,590.
Upon completion of the LPN course and securing their license, individuals will have the option to enter the workforce immediately. Alternatively, they can remain in education at Edison State and pursue a registered nursing associate degree followed by bachelor’s in registered nursing.
The Practical Nursing certification program at Edison State was granted conditional approval by the Ohio Board of Nursing on September 22, 2025. The program has also received the approval of the Higher Learning Commission and the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
Applications are currently being accepted through February 28 for the 2026 fall semester. Students must meet with Rhonda Rich, Edison nursing advisor, before completing the online application. The program lasts two semesters after which students, in order to obtain their LPN certification, will need to pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses.
