Piqua’s annual Christmas Parade will be held this year, but the format will be a little different to previous years.
This year’s parade will take place as a reverse parade, with the traditional parade units remaining in one place and the public viewing them from inside their vehicles as they drive past.
Obstacles to maintaining social distancing while watching a parade of floats, bands and entrants prompted the idea of a reverse parade. The parade units will be lined up around Piqua High School and, as per usual for the Christmas Parade, may include area businesses, non-profits, churches, and civic organizations.
Many organizations and enterprises use an event such as a parade for promotional purposes. They seize the opportunity to give away Promotional Products bearing their name, such as customized note pads, Pens or keyrings.
The most festively decorated float will be awarded a traveling trophy bearing a brass plaque on which the group’s name will be permanently engraved. The winner gets to keep the trophy through the year until a new most festive unit is voted on in December of 2021.
This year’s parade sponsors are Thrivent Financial, McVety Realty’s Jeanie Bates, Barclay’s Men’s – Women’s Clothier, Evenflo, T-Mobile, Upper Valley Medical Center/Premier Health, and Hartzell.
The Reverse Holiday Parade will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 5 at Piqua High School.
