Pitch Piqua finalists for 2022-2023 vie for top prize

The three finalists for the Pitch Piqua prize money were announced last September and will compete against each other this March.

Pitch Piqua is a charitable grant pitch competition sponsored by the Piqua Community Foundation, offering a top prize of $50,000 to the non-profit organization that pitches the best project to benefit Piqua.

In addition to prize money, the competition offers a promotional opportunity for non-profits that, like businesses, often turn to printing services to promote themselves.

Foundation President Emily Shawler expressed her excitement about the Pitch Piqua initiative entering its second year, highlighting its role in promoting philanthropy and supporting non-profits in the area.

The concluding event at which the three finalists, Edison State Community College, Upper Valley Career Center and Health Partners Free Clinic, will compete take place on March 2nd. At that time finalists will make their presentations to a panel of judges. The winner of the event will be decided on the same day and will be awarded $50,000 to be used on its presented project. The remaining two finalists will each receive a consolation prize of $5,000, which they may use however they see fit.

Judging for Pitch Piqua will include showing a community need for the project, the degree to which the project will impact Piqua residents, its launch readiness, the projects’ sustainability and the quality of the presentation.
