The brand-new manufacturing education camp, called “Change Your Future”, expands the opportunities provided by the already once a year camp to those 16 and older. The hybrid training program lasts two-weeks and is a partnership between the college and Honda. Its goal is to help fill in-demand positions by providing students with the tools for entry-level manufacturing careers.
Manufacturers like many other types of businesses depend on local printing services for items such as employee handbooks, and a range of custom printed Stationery items.
A manager and instructor of Industrial Training, Daryl Curnutte said:
“The most popular part of the camp was actually touring the Honda engine plant in Anna, which was an amazing tour and really opened their eyes and into the things that we were trying to show them here.”
Students earn a $250 stipend for attending the camp where through project-based learning they are able to tryout a variety of jobs via hands-on experience. The introduction to manufacturing helps the “campers” discover their potential and passion for a future career.
Designed to grow the next generation of manufacturing employees the two-week camp concludes with an exam and the opportunity to receive recognized manufacturing credentials.
