The Piqua Community Foundation (PCF) has announced that standard grant applications from non-profit organizations are now being accepted for its spring grant cycle.
Twice a year, non-profit organizations are offered the chance to apply for project-based grant applications by the PCF. The organizations mostly serve Piqua residents via a mission of a literary, educational, charitable, religious, scientific, or educational nature. Additionally, they must show documentation of having a tax-exempt status such as a 501(c)(3), or its equivalent.

A focus group of 14 men established The Piqua Community Foundation on November 12, 1993. The grant fund was created through fundraising, with the goal of assisting local community organizations.
Charter Life Trustees of The Foundation, one hundred and seventeen in total, donated at least $1,000 each to establish a grant making fund that what would later be called the Piqua Community Fund. Currently, the number people who have become Life Trustees is estimated at 230.
The Foundation gave out $8,000 in grants in 1995, its first year of distribution. By December 2018, grants to local organizations exceeded the $1 million mark.
Semi-annual grant funds are drawn from the foundation’s unrestricted funds. The Distribution Committee provides its board of directors with recommendations for approval using the grant application and review process.
