Ohio Arts Council awards grants to Piqua Arts Council

The Ohio Arts Council has approved grants of more than $14.7 million to artists and organizations across the state and the Piqua Arts Council has been awarded two grants for programming.

The Piqua Arts Council has received an ArtsNext and an ArtStart grant and will put the money received from the Ohio Arts Council for their Professional Workshops for Artist program and the September Piqua Arts an Ale Festival.

One grant will continue the Piqua Arts Council’s Professional Workshops for Artists that are held twice a year. Four-day workshops are taught by internationally celebrated artists: In the fall the subject is oil painting and, in the spring, it is watercolor. These popular workshops have drawn new people into Piqua.

The other grant provides funding for the Arts and Ale Festival in downtown Piqua. The festival celebrates the arts, via air paint competition, arts and craft vendors, activities for kids, live music and food trucks, as well as Ohio craft breweries.

Events such as this one provide opportunities for sellers of arts and crafts, food truck owners, and craft breweries to promote themselves via the Business Cards they bring to hand out to interested parties.

The Miami County Visitor and Convention Bureau sponsors the Arts and Ale Festival, which will take place September 21 from 10 am to 8 pm.
