Piqua residents will no doubt be happy to know that Miami County is in the process of building a more conveniently located One Stop Center for all official vehicle-related needs.
The ground-breaking has taken place on the $6.27m facility to house Miami County’s motor vehicle-related agencies. Among the offices on hand in the new building will be the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, the vehicle inspection site for the Ohio State Highway Patrol, county Auto Title office, and the driver’s examination office.
Currently, those offices are all located at a One Stop Shop in Troy on Experiment Farm Road and are being leased from a private owner. Many county residents had voiced concerns over the lack of parking space at the current location, as well as the difficulty of exiting the site due to the increasingly heavy flow of traffic along Experiment Farm Road.
Brochure printing services are used by government agencies to keep the public informed.
The creation of a new, county-owned facility for these services has been a topic for discussion for five or more years. At the ground-breaking ceremony, Commissioner Greg Simmons mentioned by name former county Clerk of Courts, Jan Mottinger, who died in 2021 after serving for 44 years as the county Clerk of Courts and played a major role in the project’s planning and researching funding option.
The Miami County Department of Development will also have a home in the new One Stop facility.
