Event scheduled to raise money for female student scholarships

At Edison State Community College, The Edison Foundation will be holding a fundraiser titled “Girls’ Night Out Little Black Dress – A Celebration of Women’s Education” on its Piqua campus.

Over the last three years, this event has raised a total of $18,000 for Edison State women’s scholarships. According to Lisa McGraw, a Little Black Dress Committee member, raising money for scholarships is only part of the event's aim. Providing the recipients with a chance to reach their potential and empowering women are other shared aspirations.

Business Cards are a must at events such as this one, where there is always a networking potential.

At a cost of $50 per person, attendees will spend April 15, 6:30 to 8:45 pm enjoying hors d’oeuvres and drinks followed by a dinner served by local male celebrities. It also includes a gift bag and the opportunity for women to wear their best little black dress. Moreover, given that this year’s theme is “Dressed for the Derby” the women are also encouraged to sport fascinators or derby-style hats.

The celebrity staff will be available, for a tip, to perform various Forms of entertainment such as song or dance the proceeds of which will also go toward the scholarship fund.

The event is to be held at the Robinson Theater and seating is limited. Those attending must be at least 21 years of age.
