West Columbus treated to Columbus Symphony

West Columbus music enthusiasts may want to attend one or all of the four Columbus Symphony concerts scheduled for January.

Stuart Chafetz will lead the orchestra in an evening of power ballads and rock anthems featuring singers Micah Wilshire, Dee Donasco and drummer Brian Kushmaul.

Rock Hits and Power Ballads will be performed January 9th and 10th beginning at 8:00 pm.

On January 10th, guests are invited to watch a working rehearsal as the orchestra, guest conductor Josep Vicent and violist Blake Pouliot go through the final rehearsal for the Latin Rhythms and Hollywood Drama coming that weekend at the orchestra's Coffee Dress rehearsal. Tickets will be $17.50. The rehearsal will begin at 10:00 am after which donuts and coffee will be served.

Latin Rhythms & Hollywood Drama will take place January 16th and 17th beginning at 7:30 pm. The evening's program will include Manuel De Falla's El amor brujo and Three-Cornered Hat, Arturo Marquez's Danson No. 2 and Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Violin Concerto.

The final January concerts will be Mozart's Requiem on the 23rd and 25th. This unfinished masterpiece has been reimagined by contemporary composer Gregory Spears. The conductor will be Rossen Milanov and singer will be Lydia Grindatto.
