West Columbus goes to state fair

Everybody in West Columbus who enjoys fairs will be heading to the Ohio State Fair coming in late July.

Cattle, sheep and swine shows, dog agility trials, fine and creative arts exhibits, and over 90 more events will greet visitors on opening day.

Attendees can look forward to baby animals, a circus, kayak rides, fishing, a lumberjack show, pig races, and Smokey the Bear. Paid attractions will include the Beat the Bar Challenge, camel rides, mining for gemstones, milking a cow, and a walk on water.

Concerts will include Kidz Bop, Foreigner, Warren Zeiders, Morris Day and the Time, and Tauren Wells. Free live music performances will include the All-Ohio State Fair Band & Youth Choir, and the Eagles tribute band Hotel California.

Operative Plasterers & Cement Masons, Phun with Physics, and Velvet Ice Cream will be giving demonstrations. There will be sheep shearing demonstrations and a session on making maple syrup. Sponsors of fairs like this often have booths where they distribute Promotional Products like promotional Pens, Mugs, and visors to passers-by.

Adult admission will be $12, and youth tickets for ages six through twelve will be $10. Ride-All-Day wristbands will be $37.

This year's Ohio State Fair will take place at The Ohio Expo Center & State Fairgrounds, 717 East 17th Street, Columbus from July 23 through August 3. Fair hours will be 10:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday through Friday and 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
