Red, White and Boom returns for the 4th

More than 400,000 attendees, many from West Columbus, are expected to commemorate Independence Day in Downtown Columbus with the city’s annual Red, White and Boom.

Billed as Columbus’s biggest single-day event of the year, it starts at 11:00 am when more than 100 national and local vendors will begin selling everything from Pepsi products and food to glowsticks. NBC4 will begin its live coverage at 4:00 pm and the Ford Oval of Honor and Red, White and Boom Parade will begin at 5:30 pm. The parade will be one mile long, with the step-off at Main Street Bridge. The procession will then go north on Front Street, ending at the intersection of Spring Street and Front Street.

Presented by Franklin University, and fired from Genoa Park’s east bank, Boom! Fireworks will begin at 10:00 pm.

Live entertainment for the event will include Joey and Jessica at noon, CYNsation at 1:00 pm, Shotgun Eddie at 2:30 pm, All Star Jammerz at 4:00 pm, and The Twylights at 5:30 pm. Evening entertainment comes from School of Rock at 7:00 pm and Radio Tramp at 9:00 pm and 10:20 pm, with the fireworks in between the two sets.

People who celebrate the 4th of July at events like this often wear colorful red, white, and blue clothing sporting an American-themed graphic design.

Red, White and Boom will take place Monday, July 3 in Downtown Columbus, beginning at noon.
