Race reaches all-star status

The NHL All-Star 5K Race is coming to the Nationwide Arena, just a few miles away from Grandview Heights.

Participants can choose to run or walk this 3.1-mile race that starts and ends at the Nationwide Arena: Home of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The event is part of the National Hockey League All-Star Weekend. Along with the race, there will also be a NHL All-Star match, NHL Fan Fair, and skills competition. In addition, an All-Star Winter Park will be set up at McPherson Commons, which is across the street from the arena. Highlights at the park include an outdoor ice rink and snow slide.

Race registration costs $50 and includes a long-sleeved shirt and finisher’s medal. The event is limited to 4,000 participants and will be chip-timed. An event of this size may have asked a printing company to create Flyers and Posters to advertise for the race.

Those who keep their race bib can get $4 taken off the price of 'walk up' tickets for the NHL Fan Fair, which will take place at the Columbus Convention Center.

Race packets can be picked up from January 21 to January 23 from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm at Fleet Feet Sports on 1270 East Powell Road. Registration and packet pickup is not available on race day.

The race takes place on January 24 at 9:00 am and the arena, which is located on 200 West Nationwide Arena Boulevard.
