West Columbus area Oktoberfest activities are lining up, with events actually taking place in September.
The 2023 Oktoberfest Meiler Vier four-mile run will kick off the annual Columbus Oktoberfest Festival. Registration is $40, and the field has been limited to 500 participants. Amenities will include event medals and shirts featuring this year’s Logo Design, free beer, sausages, and parking.
Race packets will be available from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 7 and Friday, September 8 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Fleet Feet.
Oktoberfest Meiler Vier will take place Friday, September 8th at 6:15 pm, at the Ohio Expo Center.
On the same day, Schmidt’s Columbus Oktoberfest will offer three stages of German polka dancing, music, and contemporary bands. A “marktplatz” will be abuzz with over 100 artists and craftspeople, as well as local and international commercial vendors.
Artists and crafters that exhibit and sell at Oktoberfests such as this often get German-themed custom Business Cards printed to tuck in with purchases.
German food like bratwursts, potato salad, sauerkraut and jumbo cream puffs will be available for purchase. A Kinderplatz for the children will have crafts, bounce rides, face painting, and Ohio Department of Natural Resources representatives.
Admission will be free, and the event will run from Friday, September 8 from 5:00 pm to midnight; Saturday, September 9 from noon to midnight; and Sunday, September 10 from noon to 8:00 pm at the Ohio Expo Center, Ohio State Fairgrounds, 717 E 17th Avenue.
