Octoberfest comes to town

The 55th Schmidt’s Columbus Oktoberfest will be coming in mid-September.

The Oktoberfest Meiler Vier or 4-mile Brat Trot will kick things off at 6:15 pm on Friday night. Swag includes free parking and admission to the festival, an event shirt sporting the Oktoberfest Meiler Vier graphic design, finisher medal, complimentary sausage and a beer. The run will be limited to 500 participants.

Contests will include Ms. Oktoberfest and Karaoke on Sunday starting at 5:00 pm at Hofbrauhaus Hall. Entertainment (shows, events and music) will be on the Starry.net Glockenspiel and the Picture Wagon stages, and at the two beer halls. RheinGeist Gemutlichkeit Games will be available at Natural Resources Park.

Food such as brats, German nachos, schnitzel and Polish sausage will be available from vendors such as Schmidt’s, DK Diner, Kinder Haus and Mozarts.

A special Kidslinked’s Sunday Family Funday will be from noon until 5:00 pm. The Kinderplatz or children’s area will feature arts and crafts including jeweled crowns that Grandview Heights children can wear in the Kinder parade at 1:00 pm. There will also be inflatables, a Punch & Judy show, face painting, strolling accordionists and a comedy juggler.

The festival will be in full swing Friday, September 10th from 5:00 pm until midnight, Saturday, September 11th from noon to midnight and Sunday, September 12th from noon until 8:00 pm at the Ohio Expo Center, Ohio State Fairgrounds. Admission will be free and parking will be $10 per car.
