Memorial Day Weekend to be a busy time in Grandview Heights

Memorial Day is coming soon and there will be plenty to do over that weekend.

Grandview Heights will have its annual Memorial Day Parade and service. The Memorial Service will be Thursday, May 23 at Memorial Park, starting at 7:00 pm. This year the parade will step off at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 25. The municipal pool at 1350 Goodale Boulevard will also open that afternoon at 1:00 pm.

Columbus will have a Memorial Day Ceremony from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on May 27 at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum at 300 West Broad Street. The ceremony will occur outside at Memorial Grove, or inside the Great Hall if the weather is unsuitable. The keynote speech will be given by Jennifer Ballou and the museum’s president Lt. General Michael Ferrier. Although the event will be free, those interested are advised to RSVP.

Running fans, meanwhile, can lace up their sneakers and head out to the UACA’s 48th Memorial Day 5 Miler in Upper Arlington. The race will begin at the Upper Arlington Fire Station 3861 Reed Road and go from 8:00 am to noon on May 27. There will also be a one miler, a running walk and a kids’ race. Proceeds will go to the Upper Arlington Civic Association’s charitable functions. The race will have T-Shirts with the event graphic design guaranteed to runners who sign up before May 15.
