Jazz posse schedules 2021-2022 season

PBJ & Jazz, a series of interactive concerts designed to bring jazz and other American music to children, has announced five in-person concerts for its 2021-2022 season.

The opening concert will be the New Basic Band, a group of central Ohio musicians who will perform children’s songs with a New Orleans twist. The concert will be Saturday, November 13.

Songs of the Season will be the theme of December’s concert. Jazz Academy educators and performers, along with a band of Columbus musicians, will play holiday hits to swing and sing along. Trumpeter Miles Smith and vocalist Jasmine Spitzer will be guest performers. Songs of the Season will be December 11.

In January, Jammies Jam will have children and parents join the Crossbop Collective for a pajama party. Saxophonist Robert Dove will be the featured soloist. This will be on January 15.

For Saturday, February 19, the group will present Samba School. The event will feature vocalist Kelly Delaveris teaching the Brazilian art of samba.

The final concert will be Big Band Blowout set for Saturday, March 19. This will be an hour of swinging jazz classics, from smooth sax to brass and rhythm sections.

Grandview Heights music teachers and jazz aficionados who wish to support organizations like this might get flyer printing done to get the word out.

Concerts will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Club Lincoln Theater, 769 E Long Street, Columbus. The cost will be $5.
