Two holiday traditions that everyone looks forward to are the town’s tree lighting ceremony and the arrival of Santa Claus. Early in December, Grandview Heights will once again be kicking off the holiday season with these two events – the city’s ‘Holiday Tree Lighting’ and ‘Santa is Coming to Town’.
First comes the lighting of the community Holiday Tree. The switch will be flipped by winners of The MembersFirst Pathways Financial Credit Union’s holiday coloring contest. The Grandview Heights High School Singers will lead the crowd in singing carols. Warm refreshments will be served, and guests may buy and decorate ornaments at Clay Café.
A few days later, the Grandview Fire Department will be bringing Santa into town on its firetruck. Santa will be dropped off at the local library, and children can meet him there. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras and take pictures of their little ones with the Jolly Old Elf. These pictures would make great Holiday Cards. Kids can create holiday craft and meet the Atonement Lutheran Church’s Comfort Dog, Rosie.
The ‘Holiday Tree Lighting’ is slated for December 6, beginning at 6:30 pm. It will take place at the Grandview Center, 1515 Goodale Blvd, Grandview Heights.
The ‘Santa’s Coming to Town’ event will be December 10 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Grandview Heights Public Library, 1685 West First Ave., also in Grandview Heights.
