A free-family event is coming to Grandview Heights this month.
Festival Latino will be a two-day event with international, national, regional and local Latino music and dance.
The Nationwide Fiesta Stage will present performances from Lupillo Rivera, Gina Chavez, and Frank Reyes, as well as the bands El Gran Compo, The Ark Band, Ritmo Ondas, Tipico Urbano, and DJ Cale.
Dance Plaza will feature Compania de Danza, salsa lessons, Slasamante Dance Academy, and El Corazon de Mexico.
The Abbott Children’s area will include activities and live shows thanks to COSI, a balloon artist and a book giveaway compliments of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Abbott will be giving away free samples of its healthy hydrations, and Latin Ladies and Friends will be handing out Mexican flowers.
Four Latin writers - Lorena C. Brown, Ani Palacios, Camilo Quevedo and Frederick Luis Aldama - will be displaying and selling their works in the Authors’ Showcase area.
The Visual Artists Showcase will include jewelry by Darsy Amaya, murals by Giovanni Santiago and original paintings by Jeremy Rosario. Abraham Cordova will be doing some poster printing and displaying screen-printed T-Shirts and artwork.
A Health and Wellness area will offer free health screenings, and the Community Resources area will be set up for local community and education organizations to discuss their programs.
