Grandview Heights gets invited to St. Patricks Day celebration

For Grandview Heights locals, what better way to celebrate upcoming St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin - Dublin, Ohio, that is!

Along with the parade that is considered one of the top 15 in the U.S., there will be a pancake breakfast, the annual Blarney Bash, and an Irish Kid Zone. More than 20,000 spectators are expected.

The day will start with the Lion’s Club’s Pancake Breakfast. Proceeds will go to the Dublin Club which aids the visually impaired in our area.

The City of Dublin will be hosting its annual Inflation Celebration before the parade.

The one-mile parade, also presented by the City of Dublin, will kick off in late morning. Lasting about one and a half miles, the parade will have around 110 units. Parade units will be colorful, contain music, and dance themes and have plenty of costumes. Spectators are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and snacks. Many bring cameras to capture pictures of their favorite units for later poster printing.

The Grand Leprechaun for this year’s parade will be Tim Hansley, who was Dublin’s first City Manager and served from 1987 to 2001. He will serve as the float decorating judge and preside over other activities.

The big day will be March 18. The breakfast will be from 7:00 am until 11:00 am at the Sells Middle School. The parade will step off at 11:00 am at Metro Place and end at Waterford Drive.
