Grandview Heights area celebrates Mardi Gras

On their way to celebrating Mardi Gras in Times Square on February 28, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic will be stopping in Columbus as part of its Mardi Gras Madness tour in a couple of weeks. The show will be indoors and is appropriate for all ages.

This year, Clinton, a soul and funk music star, is touring the U.S. presenting his famous New Orleans funk parties with his Parliament/Funkadelic machine. Since the 70s, Clinton has been turning soul into funk and working to get funk accepted as a true genre in the music world. As an example of his success, The Smithsonian Museum of African American History has permanently houses a stage prop from his famous Mothership Tour.

Clinton is still recording and won his first Grammy Award just last year for his contribution to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’.

Those planning to attend from here in Grandview Heights may want to get Promotional Products such as T-Shirts to wear to the event. These can be purchased from the group’s website store beforehand and will most likely be available at the event before and after the performances.

The show will have two performances – one on Saturday, February 18 and the other on Sunday, February 19 at Express Live!, 405 Neil Avenue, Columbus. This is the former LC Pavilion. The venue will open at 7:00 pm.
