Hundreds of professional, amateur and cycling enthusiasts are pouring into town to take part in the annual Tour de Grandview, which will be here this weekend. The world-class biking tour has been part of the Grandview Heights experience for over 25 years.
The event will begin at 4:30 pm when registration opens. At 5:00 pm, the course will be available for pre-rides. At 6:00 pm, the 30-minute ride category 4/5 women and the U17 men and women ride will begin. A free kids’ race will be at 7:40 pm and the pro women 50-minute ride starts at 8:30 pm. The 60-minute Pro men’s ride gets underway at 9:20 pm.
Many people can watch the rides along Grandview Heights’ tree-lined streets. Spectators at events such as this often like to get some poster printing done beforehand to show support for their favorite riders.
A street party will be in full swing from 6:00 pm until 11:00 pm on Grandview Avenue. Live music, food, and entertainment will be available for folks as they head for the expo area. Bike shops will be on hand, selling gear and showing off their latest cycles.
Free safety inspections will be available at the Trek tent, and Roll:Bicycle Company and Trek Columbus have donated bikes for the raffle.
