Girls in Columbus, and nearby Grandview Heights, can take part in a health-minded event later this month.
The ‘Girls on the Run’ Franklin County 5K is created to celebrate the young ladies who have finished the Girls on the Run Program.
Designed for girls in third to eighth grade, the program uses engaging sessions and running activities to teach life skills, like good decision-making. In addition, the program is designed to promote confidence and a healthy lifestyle. Ultimately, at the end of the 10-week program, the organization aims to have the participants ready to take part in the 5K.
Prior to the run, there will be face painting and ‘happy’ hair styling. Warmup music will be provided too. It is likely that a banner printing service has been used to create Signs to welcome the participants to the event.
Girls enrolled in the program, and coaching volunteers, do not need to register. However, adults and youth can choose to sign up for a timed or untimed entry. Registration costs between $30 and $40.
‘Girls on the Run International’ is a non-profit organization with programs in more than 200 locations. The organization has qualified coaches and hopes to boost girls’ self-esteem.
The event takes place on November 15 at the Columbus Commons located on 160 South High Street. The 5K begins at 10:00 am and pre-race fun starts at 9:00 am.Get a Free Quote for Signs
