Over the next few months, Grandview Heights classical music connoisseurs can enjoy Early Music Columbus, a concert series dedicated to Baroque, Renaissance, and Medieval music that has run for over 40 years.
The series will feature one concert a month held online during February, March, and April.
The first online event will be a program featuring classical guitarist Karl Wohlwend, who will perform GuitaREvolution 1640, a rendition of some of Michele Angiol Bartolotti’s 1640s work. This program will go online Friday, February 19 at 8:00 pm and will remain accessible until Monday, February 22 at midnight. Tickets are $20 for all three evenings.
From March 12 beginning 8:00 pm, through March 15 at midnight “Preludes, Fantasias, Dances and Variations-Part Three” will be performed by flute and guitar soloist Sean Ferguson, President of the Columbus Guitar Society. He will explore sounds of instruments such as lute, theorbo, vihuela, and guitar. Although this event will be free, donations to the concert series will be greatly appreciated.
April’s online event will be “Presto Barocco-The Early Interval.” Early Interval, a group of four musicians, will play early Italian Baroque. They will perform on replica instruments of the period including percussion, lutes, violins, violas, and recorders. Their performance will be aired starting 8:00 pm April 16, and will be available until April 19 at midnight. Tickets will be $20 for the three-day access.
Pre-modern instruments featured in these concerts might be found on notecards and Letterheads made by music Stationery printers.
