Cycling event wheeling into Grandville

The Grandview Community Association will be presenting the Tour of Grandview Cycling Classic in a few days.

This will be a world class bicycle racing event through streets of Grandview Heights and other local suburbs, along with activities for both cyclists and spectators. More than 100 professional cyclists are expected to participate.

The fast-paced course has been designed to entertain the viewers, as its sharp turns and steep inclines will build excitement as the riders get to the finish line. The course will begin and end on 1st Avenue. It will proceed left on to Willard Avenue then it will turn left onto 2nd Street. It will turn left again onto Grandview Avenue and finally left onto 1st Ave. Spectators may want to bring Banners to display along the route to encourage their favorite racers.

The first race will be the Men’s Category 4-5, which will take about 20 minutes. The KidsSprints will come next. A 30-minute Women’s Category 1 will follow the KidsSprints, and then those cyclists in Men’s Categories 3 and 1-2 will ride.

Live music, food, biking exhibitions, and activities will be at the Street Party. There will also be an after-the-race celebration.

The race will be June 17 starting at 6:30 pm. The Street Party will begin at 6:30 pm and go until 11:00. It will be located in the middle of Grandview Avenue.
