In a couple of weeks The Grandview Community Association will be once again presenting the Tour de Grandview Cycling Classic. The race will bring several hundred international professional men and women cyclists to our town to compete in this world-class event.
Cyclists will be competing in multiple professional categories including Juniors. Prizes range from $300 up to $2500. Kids between the ages of five and ten can enter the 10-minute Kidssprints at no charge. Winners will get saving certificates.
Spectators are a big part of this event, and many will be lining the streets with Banners supporting their favorite racers.
The route will take bicyclists through some of Grandview’s suburban streets. The course starts and finishes on 1st Avenue. Bikers then go left on Willard, left on 2nd Avenue, left on Grandview Avenue and finally left again onto 1st Avenue.
A major street party will be taking place before, during and after the racing. Shaw Brothers will be performing. Roll: Bicycle Company has donated bikes which will be prizes for a raffle. The Trek tents will have Trek Certified Technicians on hand to give free safety inspections.
The Tour de Grandview will be June 16th starting at 6:00 pm at the intersection of Grandview Avenue and W 1st Street. The kids’ sprints will be at 7:50 pm.
