Community festival returns to Columbus

ComFest will be coming back to town rain or shine towards the end of June. This is an all-volunteer independent celebration of Columbus activism and creativity.

The event will feature national, regional, and local workshops, training sessions, and speakers discussing social progressive issues and community activism.

Entertainment will not only include music, but will feature poetry, comedy, the spoken word, film, dance, and live and fine arts. These artists, who are from West Columbus and other parts of Ohio, will lend their talent and time for free as donations to the festival.

This year, the festival will have five stages presenting more than 150 acts. The Goodale, Live Arts, Gazebo, and Bozo stages will be predominantly music, while the Peace & Healing Pavilion will hold 30-to-60-minute discussion panels and workshops discussing community organizations and local issues, as well as the poetry sessions.

A street fair with more than 225 vendors and community organizations will be held over the three-day event. Along with these, there will be 12 commercial food trailers, and 25 community food vendors. Local organizations and local businesses will be on hand displaying their goods and services and passing out Business Cards, Promotional Products, and information about their missions, location, phone numbers, and times of operation.

Volunteers are a must at events such as this and those who work during the event this year will receive ComFest T-Shirts sporting this year’s graphic design.

ComFest will take place June 23, 24, and 25 at Goodale Park.
