Trio of rock coming to Cincinnati

A trio of great bands—the Barenaked Ladies, Gin Blossoms, and Toad the Wet Sprocket—are on the way to Cincinnati.

The Barenaked Ladies are rockers known for their humor, which is not surprising, as they began their career playing the same gigs as a comedy troupe in Canada. The Ladies are the creation of Steven Page and Ed Robertson, and were an acoustic duo before adding three more members. Their debut EP, “The Yellow Tape,” went platinum in Canada.

A review of the Ladies says:

“BNL is always . . . a rocking good time.”

Sometimes called a “jangle pop” or “alternative” rock band, the Gin Blossoms hail from Tempe, Arizona. In 1992, they released their first album, “New Miserable Experience,” which eventually earned the quadruple platinum designation.

A review said:

“I was yelling for an encore with everyone else at the end. . . . I would definitely go see them again.”

Santa Barbara in 1986 was the birthplace of Toad the Wet Sprocket, which was formed by high-school friends. Their third album, “Fear,” was their ticket to the mainstream, with two of its tracks sending the album to platinum status, and kicking off a career that has included numerous tours. One fan writes:

“ . . . we could have listened the TTWS all night long.”

The concert is scheduled for July 21 at the PNC Pavilion in Cincinnati, starting at 7.00 pm. Poster printing is often used to publicize events like this.
