The Righteous Brothers have been a staple of the music industry since the 1960s. The original duo was Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield, who performed together for the first time in 1962, as members of a five-person group known as the Paramours. The following year, the two founded their own group, and took the name the Righteous Brothers.
The duo’s success stemmed from the fact their vocal ranges contrasted. Medley is a bass-baritone while Hatfield was a tenor, who sometimes sang high enough to be considered a countertenor.
Their breakthrough, and the song for which they are best known, came in 1964 when they released their album “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin,” with the title track being the only single released from the album. Other hits include “Just Once in My Life,” and their cover of “Unchained Melody,” which became a hit again when it was used in the movie “Ghost.”
Hatfield passed away in 2003, and Medley continued as a soloist, but reformed the duo in 2016, with Bucky Heard as his new partner. A review says:
“[The show] . . . was a celebration—of soul music, vocal endurance, and the legacy that Medley and his late partner helped create.”
The Righteous Brothers will appear at the Hard Rock Cincinnati Ballroom on Friday, October 16. When they plan events like this, organizers can publicize them by using poster printing to create advertisements.
