Judy Collins comes to Cincinnati

One of the most iconic names in music will appear in Cincinnati soon.

Judy Collins has been a force in music for almost 70 years. She has won a Grammy, been nominated for an Oscar, and has numerous other awards to her credit. Her work includes folk music, rock, pop, show tunes, and country.

Notable performances include her rendition of “Both Sides Now,” written by Joni Mitchell, which appeared on the 1967 album “Wildflowers.” The album has been placed in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Another major hit was Collins’s rendition of Stephen Sondheim’s ballad “Send in the Clowns,” which he wrote for “A Little Night Music,” a Broadway musical. When it was dropped as a single, the song became a huge hit and stayed on the 1975 Billboard Hot 100 chart for 11 weeks. In 1977, it charted again, staying on the Billboard Hot 100 for 16 weeks. Collins’s rendition of the song was named “Song of the Year” at the Grammys in 1976.

Collins’s discography is prodigious. According to one source, she has released over 200 different projects from studio albums to videos. In 2022, Collins released “Spellbound,” comprising 13 songs that provide a retrospective of her career. At the 2023 Grammys, “Spellbound” was nominated for “Best Folk Album.”
