He has been nominated for 19 Grammys and won four, and now will be sharing his talent with Cincinnati audiences.
Larry Carlton has years of experience gained from the time he spent as a session musician. In the studio, he backed up groups and artists like Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, Herb Alpert, Sammy Davis Jr., Michael Jackson, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, and dozens more. He was a member of the Crusaders, and also the jazz group Fourplay, whose records went multi-platinum. Suitably, his first album is titled “With a Little Help from My Friends.”
As a leader, he has dropped 38 albums, 11 more with the Crusaders, another eight with Fourplay and over 100 more as a sideman. Many of these albums were certified either Gold or Platinum. His four Grammy wins are for “Best Pop Instrumental Performance” for the “Theme from Hill Street Blues,” which he won in 1981m along with the “Best Pop Instrumental Performance” for 1987’s “Minute by Minute”, the “Best Pop Instrumental Album” for “No Substitutions, Live in Osaka,” in 1987, and “Best Pop Instrumental Album for 2010’s “Take Your Pick.”
In addition, Guitar Magazine presented Larry with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and Premier Guitar Magazine gave him the “Titan of Tone” award at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He also has a star on the Rock Walk of Fame.
Carlton will be at The Ludlow Garage on April 21. When this type of event is planned, organizations can use poster printing to create advertising.
