Kristen Schlotman, the executive director of Film Cincinnati, called it:
“One of the greatest movies to come out of Cincinnati because Cincinnati was the star.”
The locations seen in the movie made it obvious it was filmed in the city.
The film, which stars Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman, is similar to the classic ‘Sophie's Choice’, which tells the story of a woman living in a concentration camp. In ‘Sacred Deer’, Farrell plays a cardiologist practicing in Cincinnati who faces a similar decision. A boy who lost his father on Farrell's operating table now threatens Farrell, who has two children. The boy gives Farrell a choice: he must kill one of his children or his wife, or the boy will murder all three of them.
Lanthimos and Filippou apparently took inspiration from Euripides' tragedy ‘Iphigenia in Aulis’, in which Agamemnon is ordered to kill Iphigenia, his daughter, to atone for an offense.
Projects like this can benefit if officials work with a newsletter printing company, which can create a newsletter packed with information for residents.
