Decosimo, one of the biggest accounting firms in the Cincinnati area, is merging with another firm, and the resulting company will be one of the largest in the nation.
Headquartered in Tennessee, Decosimo plans to merge with Elliott Davis, a firm in Greenville, South Carolina. The merger is expected to be effective January 1, 2015, and the new organization will be among the top 30 firms in the country by size. The name of the new firm will be Elliott Davis Decosimo, and the Cincinnati office will bear this title.
Decosimo's Cincinnati office is located on Fifth Street, in the First Financial Center. It employs 23 certified public accountants and 30 other employees, but principal Nick Decosimo expects it will expand in size when the merger is complete.
Decosimo notes that Elliott Davis has grown quickly, which is part of the reason for the merger. He adds he wants to grow the firm in Cincinnati, and believes it may double in size within a few years. He adds that there is no overlap in the functions of the two firms, so no positions will be combined, meaning there will be no jobs lost. Decosimo does not believe the firm's clients will see any changes, except for the name.
