Lucky Chops has had over 50 members throughout its existence, which started in 2006 when its founding members were attending the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan. They started by playing on street corners and in the subway in New York City, and finally gained recognition in 2014 when a video of them playing went viral. They were performing a mash-up of “I Feel Good” by James Brown and “Funkytown” by Lipps, Inc., in the subway. They began to gain recognition and released “Lucky Chops,” their debut album, in 2019.
Early in their career, they played mostly mash-ups and cover songs, then moved on to creating original works. The songs are personal to the writer, and are influenced by New York City’s cultural mix, which means the band does not limit itself to a single genre but plays a variety of styles of music. Flyer printing is frequently used to promote events of this type.

Lucky Chops are set to appear May 13 at 8.00 pm at Cincinnati’s Taft Theatre.
