Various flavors of punk coming to Cincinnati
Three punk bands who have different takes on the genre are coming to Cincinnati.
Blink-182 is touring with Alkaline Trio, and Drug Church, and the bands will be appearing at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati soon. Blink-182 is a pop punk outfit that formed in 1992 in San Diego, and has sold more than 35 million albums throughout the world. “Cheshire Cat,” their debut album, was not a commercial success, but it generated a lot of interest and is now considered a pop punk classic.
Their breakthrough came with the release of their third album, 1999’s “Enema of the State.” The album was a huge success, selling more than15 million copies, and spawning the hit singles “Adam’s Song, “All the Small Things,” and “What’s My Age Again?”
Alkaline Trio is a pure punk band that got together in Chicago in 1996. Their debut album was 1997’s “Sundials,” but their most successful album to date is 2010’s “This Addiction,” which brought the group back to their punk roots, and debuted at No 11 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Drug Church is a post-hardcore band from Albany, New York. They have become known for their innovation and tendency to push boundaries. They are comfortable exploring various musical genres, such as grunge, while still returning to their punk roots.
The concert is scheduled for September 16. Poster are a traditional product used to promote shows like this, and organizers can find them at print shops.
