Martin Lawrence is on the road with his “Y’all Still Know What It Is” tour and will appear at the Taft Theatre to the delight of his fans. Lawrence is one of the all-time most successful touring performers working today.
Lawrence started his career as a stand-up comer, appearing in venues like The Improv. His first television role was on “What’s Happening Now!!,” which ran in 1987 and 1988. In 1992, he co-created and starred as the title character in the hugely successful Fox sitcom “Martin,” which ran until 1997. He first appeared on the big screen in 1995’s “Bad Boys,” where he played Detective Sergeant Marcus Burnett in the action comedy, buddy cop movie. The film was followed by three sequels, each featuring Martin, and the franchise is one of the most profitable in film history.
His film career includes 1999’s “Blue Streak,” “Wild Hogs” (2007), and “A Thin Line Between Love and Hate,” which was released in 1996 and which he directed. He has also been a voice actor, lending his talents to the animated films “Open Season,” which appeared in 2006, and 2026’s “Sneakers.”
A review says the tour is:
“. . . a night of nonstop laughter and entertainment.”
Martin Lawrence will be at Cincinnati’s Taft Theatre on May 2. Organizers planning shows like this can draw audiences in with publicity created using poster printing.
