Rappers to energize Cincinnati

Three rap artists will be in Cincinnati soon.

Wiz Khalifa, Sean Paul, and Dababy will appear at the Riverbend Music Center. Wiz Khalifa (Cameron Jibril Thomaz) is an actor, singer/songwriter and rapper from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His breakthrough came in 2010, when he released “Black and Yellow,” a single, on Atlantic Records. “Black and Yellow” soared to No. 1 on the charts and earned the artist nominations for an MTV VMA Award and a Grammy. The success of the single created anticipation for 2011’s “Rolling Papers,” his studio album. It opened in the No. 2 spot on the charts.

Sean Paul is a rapper and dancehall singer from Jamaica who got his break in 2002 with his album “Dutty Rock.” The album won the Grammy in 2004, and nine other albums have been nominated for this honor. He has also won 18 other awards and been nominated for many more including the Soul Train Music Awards and the Star Awards.

Dababy (Jonathan Lyndale Kirk) was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up listening to Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, and Eminem. He made his studio album debut with 2019’s “Baby on Baby,” which included the single “Suge.” The song climbed to the Top Ten on the Billboard Hot 100. “Kirk,” his second album, opened at the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

The show is set for July 12 at the Riverbend Music Center. Organizers can find posters, which are traditional advertising for events like this, at print shops.
